Ashta Nayika - Eight Heroines of the Natya Shastra

A Kuchipudi dance performance with live Carnatic Orchestra.

VENUE: The Studio Theatre at the Queens Theatre

Ashta Nayika refers to the eight archetypal phases of the romantic heroine, as described in the time-honored Indian performing arts treatise, the Natya Shastra. These phases of the heroine are explored on the stage of Queens Theatre in the Kuchipudi dance style by Neela Zareen.

Join us for an afternoon of expressive dance performance to the accompaniment of a stellar Carnatic musical ensemble.

This production is funded by the Queens Arts Fund Grant from the Queens Council on the Arts and organized by Neela Dance Academy, Inc.
